An Unforgettable Experience in the Company of Knights

On 18 July, an ordinary school day transformed into an extraordinary opportunity for one of our students, Timur, as he stepped into the world of historic grandeur and modern honour at St. Paul’s Cathedral. Timur was granted the rare privilege of assisting in a photography assignment for a service held in the Crypt of St. Paul’s Cathedral, an event of significant prestige organised by the Imperial Society of Knights Bachelor (ISKB).

Working alongside the school’s photographer, Mike Benjamin, Timur was tasked with capturing the essence of this venerable occasion, where Knights of the Realm gathered in full regalia to honour tradition and each other. The event was graced by distinguished guests, including Sir Singh, the former Head of Drayton Manor High School.

Armed with one of Mr. Benjamin’s professional cameras and a succinct but thorough crash course in its operation, Timur was soon set loose amidst the distinguished attendees. His assignment was no small feat; it required not only a keen eye for photography but also the grace to interact with the Lords, Ladies, and Knights present; it is with immense pride that we report Timur excelled in both.

Navigating through the majesty of the Crypt and later at the reception held at The Worshipful Society of Apothecaries’ hall - a venue steeped in history dating back to the 1600s - Timur’s conduct was exemplary. He engaged with the respected guests with a level of professionalism beyond his years, discussing the school and his unique role at the event. His poise and courteous demeanour did not go unnoticed. Lord Lingfield, present at the reception, took a moment to commend Timur for his professionalism, a recognition that speaks volumes of Timur’s character and capabilities.

As the day ended, it was clear that Timur had not only met the challenge but had surpassed expectations, leaving a lasting impression on those he encountered. His experience at St. Paul’s Cathedral is a testament to his dedication and the bright future that lies ahead of him.

In a world that often moves at a frenetic pace, it is moments like these - rich in history, honour, and personal growth - that remind us of the extraordinary potential within our students. Well done, Timur!
